Internet Explorer patch

This past Tuesday saw Microsoft release a patch targeting a number of vulnerabilities in its browser on Windows 2000 and XP platforms ( possible IE 5, 6 and 7 ). The bugs relate to how IE handles objects in memory and table operations, more specifically it could allow remote code execution. The vulnerabilities can be triggered using a specially crafted web page ( typically provided as a link in an email ). The result of a successful attack is that the attacker could take complete control of an ‘infected’ system.

As this update is considered critical, make sure that all Windows systems are patched and up to date. If you don’t have ‘download and install’ as the default option for your Windows Update system, make sure you either use the update system to manually install the updates or go to the Windows Update site to install the updates.
